Martin's Mundane Zonker Worm

AKA Martin's Mundane Clam Worm

Martin Joergensen
Cold saltwater fly
Easy
  1. Make a small foundation for the cone by covering the hook shank right behind the hook eye with a bit of thread. Don't make it too thick or long. The cone must fit snugly over it.

  2. Cut the tying thread, dab a drop of super glue on the thread wraps and slide the cone over it.

  3. Let dry/cure.

  4. Tie in the zonker strip right behind the cone. Just in the front and not too tight.

  5. Add a drop of glue right in front of the strip and push the whole thing, thread wraps and the front fur part of the strip into the cone with your fingers or a set of fine pliers.

  6. Let dry/cure.

… I have a small favor to ask.

Long story short

Support the Global FlyFisher through several different channels, including PayPal.

Long story longer

The Global FlyFisher has been online since the mid-90's and has been free to access for everybody since day one – and will stay free for as long as I run it.
But that doesn't mean that it's free to run.
It costs money to drive a large site like this.
See more details about what you can do to help in this blog post.

The Global FlyFisher was updated to a new publishing system early March 2025, and there may still be a few glitches while the last bits get fixed. If you meet anything that doesn't work, please let me know.
